We’re proud to work with more than 10,000 creators across the globe, so that we can provide the most compelling and engaging content for our vast audience. Today, we spotlight designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, the duo behind WOLK MORAIS, a new L.A. based luxury fashion label which inspires Artistic Freedom, Youthful Exploration and Hollywood Mythos. The designers’ careers span the globe working in fashion capitals including Paris, Tokyo, and New York. They’ve been hard at work on Mode, take a look at their recent stories:
From pet-pampering to design inspiration, to revered night spots, Brian and Claude have you covered. Barney’s Beanery is definitely on my list for my next trip to Southern California.
Brian and Claude shared some of the inside scoop, and we’re happy to pass it along:
How do you get your creative juices flowing, as you are creating story collections?
We are most inspired by the places and people in our personal community. If you can’t be inspired by the people who surround you, then you need to surround yourself with new people! We like to experience things on the ground – which to us means walking around – and exploring our city and other cities by foot. There are always discoveries to be made in your back yard, if you just take the time to look! In the words of Auntie Mame, our spiritual godmother, “life’s a banquet and most poor bastards are starving.”
Can you share any tips for others that might be new to Mode?
Our Mantra for life and Mode is “Be Authentic.” Whether we are designing a clothing collection, cooking a delicious dinner, or creating a story for Mode, we strive to be authentic to what we love. As soon as our audience detects that the work isn’t true to our voice, we lose them!
What is most interesting to you about the new Mode platform?
The Mode platform is most inspiring to us, as it connects creative communities and allows our fans to experiment in genres that they may not normally get to participate in. For example, even though we are fashion designers, we get to share about our favorite candy, create travel vignettes, and style a story based on our favorite old school bars in Los Angeles. For us, the Twenty First Century is about self-expression in multiple disciplines and Mode has that market cornered!
Any hints you can share about some of the stories you’re cooking up?
We have been watching a lot of classic movies, are obsessed with Indonesian Salsa. and are really into vintage denim jackets right – so who knows what is coming down the pike!! Inspiration usually strikes us when strange things around us collide.
Thanks for taking the time Brian and Claude, and we look forward to reading about what strikes you next!
